About Me

My photo
Dear friends, We began this blog in the summer of 2012 when our family was called to step "out" of our "normal" life as we lived it in Carrollton Texas and serve for 3 months at Housesofhope.org orphanage in Zacapa, Guatemala. A simple blog for our friends and family to stay in touch during our short journey. Since that season we have decided we will use this as a means to continue to log our journey, share our stories and create a platform to champion what inspires us. We hope you enjoy and pray that you are encouraged into action and deeper reflection on family and faith.

(Wil)    Departure
Today we are leaving for Guatemala.
The house is surprisingly quiet.  My mom always gets so anxious when we go somewhere.  Even to the lake.  So, today she is especially frantic.  She bought us new suitcases for the trip, and they came with cute little locks so you can lock up your suitcase so the zippers don't accidentally come unzipped.  Well Wade and James are so mesmerized by them, and they want to lock up there suitcases.  But my mom said,  "If the people that check your bag see a lock on it, they will take it away from you and shred it!"
... I'm not quite sure when AA became so against locks on your suitcases?  But, she is so stressed right now I just nod my head and put the lock down.
We are doing last minute cleaning right now,  because if you don't clean for 3 months,  the house can get a little dusty.
Thankfully the storms did not delay our flights!  So we will leave the same time.  Just thought you guys might have wanted to know.
Only 3 more hours until we get in the car to go to the airport.
Type to you guys soon,
Wil
